What are the quickest ways to boost your self-image for summer?
Summer is here and I’m so insecure about my body and showing skin. I just never feel like I look good or put together no matter what I wear. How can I start to feel better about my appearance?
A lot of people would read this question and tell you to put sticky notes on your mirror with quotes about your worth or learn to accept and love yourself the way you are. Now, while that advice is amazing and true... it is also a lifelong process to learn to love the skin you are in. So here are some ways to help yourself feel better for the summer and hopefully set you on the right track to better self-esteem.
The first key to feeling put together is investing in some really good self care. Get yourself on a great skin care routine that actually works (not just trendy products from tiktok). Have a solid hair wash schedule so you always have a fresh blowout or a sleek bun with a hair mask in. Have a fresh manicure and pedicure always, even if you do it yourself. And do not underestimate the power of a great self-tanner or at home teeth whitening strips. Find makeup products that melt into your skin instead of sitting caked on top. Good hair, skin, smile and nails are the best accessory.

As far as clothing goes, there are a few staple pieces to invest in. Find a great pair of high-waisted jean cutoff shorts, a white tee, linen button down, white sneakers, and a few great sun dresses. With these pieces, you can mix and match so many classic summer outfits. Creating a capsule wardrobe like this can take the stress out of getting dressed for an event because you will invest the time in picking out the pieces that look best on you as you shop and avoid the terror of trying things on as you get ready. Pair these looks with chunky jewelry, cute sunglasses, hats and other accessories to add flair.
The most daunting part of showing summer skin is, of course, choosing bathing suits. Luckily, string bikinis are on the outs and flattering bathing suits of all shapes and sizes are in! Try on different cuts and see what colors, textures, and coverage work best for your body. If you are strictly a one piece girl, try a high waist two piece - you really never know. There are also so many cute skirts, shorts, sarongs and dresses to throw over your bathing suit for a little extra coverage.
Finally, just prioritizing some low-lift health changes can make a huge difference in how you feel and how you glow. Stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep, eat more whole foods, move your body a little bit every day etc etc etc.
Overall, the best way to appear more put together is to present yourself with confidence, even if you have to fake it ‘till you make it! Have fun trying new things and finding what works for you. Try to avoid walking out of stores with things that do not add to your confidence and bring you joy. Best of luck on this self-love journey! xo
